First rap recording? Scottish filmaker in 1936?
In the documentary "Night Mail" (1936), John Grierson narrates the opening scene with WH Auden's poem of the same name, "Night Mail." Auden wrote the poem specifically for the film... now, to me, this sound very much like a rap, and one could argue the first recording of hip-hop....
