Falling Out Of Love

I started making this EP at the start of the year because I had album(s) fatigue. I made “Novelty” just after Christmas and loved the vibe and wanted to keep it going. I’ve always wanted to make a Lofi project so I thought this was the best place to start.

I was looking through thousands of Lofi beats and tasked myself to write to the ones I liked the most. What started as a writing exercise ended up turning into something I’m extremely proud of which is rare for me. I haven’t opened up as much as I have in these 5 songs and I feel like they are a true representation of how I feel NOW. Albums can take years to make so when you finally release it, it feels like people are getting an old version of you.

As I said before, I found many of the beats on Youtube and I tried to purchase leases for them but they’re on labels and the artists probably didn’t intend to make them for someone rap on.

I hope you enjoy the EP. I’m very proud of it.

Wurrd Jenkins: Oh The Horrah!

 

"Oh The Horrah" is a chaotic clash of broken break-beats, growling bass-lines stabby pianos, screeching synths and the razor sharp molasses flow of Wurrd Jenkins.

The EP contains 2 additional remixes of the original, the first by Edinburgh based Electronic Artist
Edward Spark who's take on the track adds funky electronics with clean break-beats and a feature verse from California's Emceebrownbear who adds in a new verse in the middle, his smooth buttery flow adds an additional element to the track not out of place being sandwiched between 2 verses of the hard style Scots of Wurrd Jenkins.

The 2nd remix featured is by Toatie Made It (www.beatstars.com/toatiemadeit/), who's approach to the track takes a more modern rap/grime approach with shuffling strings and rolling snare drums, capturing a claustrophobic atmosphere that truly resonated "the horrah" vibe of the track.

Wurrd Jenkins - Merge the Schools LP

Message from Wurrd Jenkins:

my debut "Bardic Inspiration Dice" was an attempt at creating an album the very young just discovering the golden era version of me would have played

on his walkman at playtime at primary school.

The sequel "Merge the Schools" is my evolution aimed at early teen me. In my own production i combine breakbeats, samples and electronic as a precursor to my production style going forward.

dirty claustrophobic and "danceable". As well as a more old school boom bap production from Nity Gritz (and Nunny Boy in the intro) that would lead the listener into the concept, I would hope, flawlessly.

My plan is to create a trilogy of albums, that can be played seamlessly in chronological order (the way I love to listen to discographies)
